Form 941 and Schedule B

Last week, we called your attention to the fact that your second quarter 941 Forms are due at the end of this month! Now, we’re back to remind you that the deadline’s even closer and to provide you with some information on an attachment you may be required to submit with your 941 Form.

What is Schedule B?
Schedule B is an addendum used with the quarterly tax return for businesses, Form 941, to report additional information to the IRS. Depending on how you deposit the employer taxes associated with Form 941 determines whether or not you’re required to submit Schedule B.

Schedule B is filed by employers who deposit their employment taxes reported on Form 941 on a semi-weekly basis. It’s also required by employers who report more than $50,000 in employment taxes during the previous period and by those who have accumulated $100,000 or more in tax liability in the current or past calendar year.

Where Can I File Form 941 & Schedule B?
When you e-file Form 941 with ExpressIRSForms (also known as TaxBandits), our system will help you complete and include Schedule B if, based on the information you enter, you’re required to submit it with your return at no additional cost!

You’ll also be able to e-sign your return (using your Online Signature PIN or with Form 8453-EMP) and pay any taxes before securely e-filing your Form 941 and Schedule B with the IRS.

It’s no secret that e-filing is the easier, faster, and safer way to complete your IRS returns, including Form 941. Create your account with us or log in today to see just how much better e-filing really is!

And if you have any questions, don’t hesitate to reach out to our all-star, US-based customer support team! We’re available by phone and live chat Monday through Friday, 9:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. EST and by email 24/7.

Tax Day for Citizens Abroad is Coming Up!

Everyone knows Tax Day is in April. Well, unless you get an extension of time to file with Form 4868, that is.

But did you know some Americans automatically receive a two-month extension each year, making their tax day June 15th instead? And unlike the Form 4868 extension, those who receive this extension also have the extra two months to pay any taxes owed. Unfortunately, though, this isn’t something just anyone can apply for: it can only be used by U.S. citizens and residents abroad.

Those who are eligible for this two-month extension include
  • Those living outside the United States and Puerto Rico whose main place of business is also outside the U.S. and Puerto Rico and
  • Those in the military or naval service who are on duty outside the U.S. and Puerto Rico.
    • If you’re serving in a combat zone or qualified hazardous duty area, see this IRS publication for more info on deadline extensions for your taxes.

If you’re married and filing a joint return, either you or your spouse can qualify for this extension and receive more time to file. However, if you file separately, only the spouse who qualifies for the extension may get two more months to file.

So if the above conditions apply to you, your personal tax deadline is June 15, 2017, for the 2016 tax year. To avoid any confusion or late fees, attach a statement to your return explaining which situation qualifies you for the extension.

You can find more info about this extended tax day deadline here! And be sure to stay tuned with ExpressIRSForms for all your tax-filing information!

File Form 7004 TOMORROW to Extend Your Business Tax Return Deadline!

Hey! Do you need to file ANY of these forms with the IRS tomorrow:
  • Forms 706-GS(D), 706-GS(T),
  • Forms 1120, 1120-C, 1120-F, 1120-FSC, 1120-H, 1120-L, 1120-ND, 1120-PC, 1120-POL, 1120-REIT, 1120-RIC, 1120S, 1120-SF,
  • Forms 1041, 1041-N, 1041-QFT, 1042,
  • Forms 1065, 1065-B, 1066,
  • Form 3520-A, or
  • Forms 8612, 8613, 8752, 8804, 8831, 8876, 8924, 8928
for your business?

Are you not exactly ready to file one (or more) of these forms by tomorrow?

If you answered yes and then no, it’s time to head on over to ExpressExtension to e-file your Form 7004, Application for Automatic Extension of Time to File Certain Business Income Tax, Information, and other Returns. It only takes a few minutes and you’ll get anywhere from five and a half to seven extra months to file your return.

Important Note: Form 7004 does not extend the amount of time you have to pay any business taxes you owe to the IRS. Unfortunately, those are still due by their original deadline. BUT it does give you a few months to get everything in order so you can file a complete, correct return.

One of the easiest ways to apply for an extension with Form 7004 is with ExpressExtension. All you need is your business’s EIN, basic contact info, and the name of the form for which you’re extending the deadline. You don’t even need to include a reason why you need more time, so long as you have the information mentioned, you’ll automatically receive more time to file!

When you e-file with ExpressExtension, your form is double checked by the system to be sure it’s free of errors, and after you submit your form, you’ll get an email from us when it’s been approved. You should see this approval email within 24 hours of submitting your form.

And then voila! You’ve got 5½ - 7 more months to file! Easy as that.

If you have any questions once you’re over at ExpressExtension, we’d be happy to help in any way we can! Just give us a call (803-514-5155) or send us a live chat Monday through Friday, 9:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. EST or send us an email anytime at support@ExpressExtension.com!

More on the W-9

The Cinderella story of the December ExpressIRSForms blogs was “E-Sign Form W-9 with ExpressIRSForms.” So since our readers are so interested in this form, we decided why not tell you all a little more about it?

The Process
To have your W-9 forms e-signed by your recipients through ExpressIRSForms is convenient and cost-effective. Simply sign up for your free ExpressIRSForms account, and from your Dashboard click “Request W-9.” Then, enter in all the payer information required (name, EIN, address, contact info) and the name and email address of each of your recipients. Next you’ll send your requests and wait for them to come back to you, completed and e-signed.

When your recipients receive your W-9 request, they’ll have the option to accept it, fill it out, and resubmit it, or reject it. We’ll alert you via email to keep you updated on the status of your requests, and you’ll have the option to choose how often you’d like to be alerted. We’ll either:
  • send you an email every time a recipient completes or rejects a W-9 or
  • send you an email once a day with a summary of your total, signed, and pending W-9 requests.
So now that we’ve told you a bit about the process, here are a couple of benefits to having your W-9s e-signed...

More Accuracy
Whether you’re filing Form 1099, Form W-2, or ACA forms, or signing a Form W-9, doing so electronically leaves far less room for error. Roughly 10-21% of paper filings are estimated to have common errors, whereas the IRS estimates a 1 in 200 chance for making the same errors when e-filing or e-signing.

E-Signing is FREE with ExpressIRSForms
Need we say more? Not only are you saving on paper and filing cabinet space when you e-sign, you’re saving money too! So what are you waiting for? Give it a try now, while there’s still time to get the information you may still need for your 1099s and W-2s.

And if you need any help, don’t hesitate to reach out to our friendly, expert support team here in Rock Hill, South Carolina. We offer phone (704-839-2270) and live chat support Monday through Friday from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. EST, and 24/7 email support through support@expressirsforms.com.
